The RFDS is the first, largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation in the world. It operates with the latest in aviation, communications and medical technology and brings an extensive range of healthcare services to those who live, work and travel throughout Regional Australia. For example from its Broken Hill base, featured in this gallery, it provides regular clinic services to communities at Tiborburra, Moomba Oil and Gas Fields, Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Pooncarie.

The RFDS has 21 bases across Australia, assists over 242,000 patients each year, flies 47 aircraft, employees over 1,000 staff in a wide variety of roles from doctors, nurses, pilots, engineering and operational co-ordinators.
